Raymond Michael Bourque was born on Feb.21, 2008. 7lb 13ounces of pure joy. I love you Ray.

First off, I would like to announce the upcoming birth of Raymond Micheal Bourque! Trina and I are expecting our first child on or around Feb. 21st. Everyone that has a child keeps telling us how much our lives are going to change. I certainly hope that is true. I already have an increased sense of purpose and I am most definitely looking forward to seeing the world through Raymond's eyes. EXPERIENCE all things with the enthusiasm of a child, as if you were seeing it for the FIRST time. This is the Zen mind, always new, always aware, always that of a beginner.

I have a few, well actually, many things to say about ones ego. Often I give advice to others to act without ego or to "be Canadian" when confronted with a situation that tempts one to be judgemental. Of course, to write this statement is perverse in itself.

Those who say they know, do not know. Those who say they do not know, also don't know. Therefore be quiet and let your actions speak for you. They speak much louder than your words anyway.

Sometimes you think and nothing comes to you. Whereas, sometimes you try not to think and your head fills with questions. While Trina and I were on vacation we thoroughly enjoyed flowing with the day... even during the 6.5 earthquake! During our trip I thought a lot about happiness and if how work can get in the way. But the more I thought about it, the more I realized, that work itself is a part the path. This also, reminded me of a lesson we so often forget, work not to aquire, but to become. Do this and I guarantee you will find happiness in being back to work on Monday.

This is the waning moments of a great Labour Day weekend spent right here in San diego. Trina and I hosted friends of hers from Arizona, Andy, Angie and their one year old girl Bella. The weekend was spent with our usual affairs of cycling, beach going and good food. What made my weekend extra special was opportunity to hang out with new friends and enjoy our community through their eyes.

Getting to know the Klein family has left me with a very positive feeling as they provide an environment that everyone should be so lucky as to surround themselves with.

As this is my first blog entry, I would like to start off with something intelligent like a Zen thought:
UNDERSTANDING means that what happens to you does not matter; what you BECOME through those experiences is all that is significant. This is the true MEANING of life.

until I stepped out of the dressing room for a moment and the security attentively locked the door behind me. Not a problem they said as it can be opened from the inside by Mr. Mathews. Of course, how were they to know that I had just inserted several acupuncture needles!! This started the process of someone calling someone who got someone until I hear whispered over the PA, "we have a situation - pause - we have Mr. Mathews on the inside and the acupuncturist on the outside." Eventually, the key was located and I re-entered as if nothing had gone amiss. I guess the lesson learned was even though the treatment was the focus we need to be aware of our surroundings as well.
